04-15/16-11 - been tearing it up on the blogs; awarded our first perqs points to Erika Laing for 'liking' a post on our SocieTea facebook page; started the Red Boa Society... yes the name similarity is intentional as a tribute to the world's premier women's social organization... it is a facebook group and blog focusing on the boudoir aspects of femininity for those of us who are not 22 year old supermodels... oh i nearly forgot i've also been doing tax prep for others.... even more thrilling than writing html code hee hee.... updated festiviteas and steal pages & alpha... added English Rose Tearoom - CA

02-13-09 - Trying to rebuild everything from scratch has been trying as well as overwhelming; but little by little our webmistress is trying to conduct clean up. Most recently we've updated Steals & Deals, the Cafe Chloe page, My Cup of Tea Unique Gifts, Etiquette and the FestiviTeas pages

02-07-09 - Our webmistress has been extremely busy setting up shop from scratch since at present we have no access to any of the work done up until this point. But she is chipping away and has updated the FestiviTeas page and handled a slew of behind the scenes tasks including downloading all new member and cups of kindness requests.... now it's just a matter of processing all of them! Tomorrow she hoped to tackle new Steals & Deals offerings

02-05-09 - WOOHOOOOO! Our webmistress is back in the saddle again with a new laptop, although for some reason it cannot seem to sync with the site and has made uploading a nightmare. But the good news is we will be able to start processing memberships and cups of kindness vouchers again. Thank you to those who have so selflessly donated. We have an awfully long way to go to become solvent but every penny donated is not only appreciated but needed! Today's updates: revised Tea Gardens page, festiviteas page and homepage

01-09-09 - If you haven't seen anything new from us in awhile it is because our webmistress no longer has a computer. Both of hers bit the dust, one a sad slow death. As a result, we have been unable to update this site at all. Additionally, at present, our beautiful cookbook is temporarily lost until it can be retrieved from one of the defunct computers. Also, our main sponsor and funder of SCS was hard hit by last fall's ecomonic crisis and as such can not continue to single-handedly support SCS. We have had some lovely donations for which we are most grateful, but by and large one individual has funded the entire operation. That said, please encourage your friends to donate to SoCal SocieTea so that we may not only survive, but thrive!

12-26-08 - Dear Carol Cox, owner of the beatiful Victorian Manor, suffered a death in her family and has cancelled our Holiday Member Mixer booked at her establishment in order to handle out of town guests and funeral arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with her during this difficult time.

09-27-08 - Sorry, there has been so much work going on behind the scenes that it would take too long to note it all. Just know that the site has undergone an overhaul, Carol has been furiously calling and emailing vendors, we're getting ready for tomorrow's mixer, we have our first Cups-of-Kindness certificate to hand out (yea!), we've added our new Tea-Tattlers Forum (see top of page for link), have added a Trends page, Cozy Corner and next month will feature our first SpecialTea business, added tea talks by Beth Caswell, added Theme & Variation kids parties and I know there's more but I can't think of it right now - ha!

05-28-08 - Our wemistress has been doing her day job as well as taking over all the administrative duties of the SocieTea while Carol (our adminner) sits around sipping tea, nibbling petit fours and barking orders.... actually she has a broken arm and thus has been rendered moot at present. In addition to preparing and sending out our first passle o new member packets our websmistress has arranged for the SocieTea to get a phone of its own (562-900-6830) and filed a DBA so that we may get a bank account and accept more donations (we're just glad people want to make them!). We have also added Cups of Kindness Vouchers to the site and a less than festive though functional RSVP form for the first Member Mixer on June 30th. Lastly, we've been working on some other admin activity such as databases and work on the passports to have ready for the June Mixer.

04-21-08 - Well it's felt like a war zone behind the SocieTea scenes. We scrounged together the funds to spring for the external hard drive, all data was moved to it to be transferred hours later to our main pc... and then disaster struck. A piece of metal within the hard drive became loose and led to the external hard drive burning to a crisp... with everything in it that our webmistress has done over the last year and a half.... Was there a back-up? As it turns out, no.
The technician didn't think to make one as the external hard drive was going to be downloaded to a pc a few hours hence. Now our webmistress has the delightful task of sifting through more than 125,000 files to see what can be salvaged. This task is estimated to take about a month so it will most likely be slow going with page uploading around here for the next few weeks -- sorry for the slow-up

04-10-08 - The computer crashed as it is was utterly overloaded as a result of doing this site - ha! We still need to get an external hard drive for the SocieTea but had not yet earned the funds..... so tell your friends who are joining to donate any little bit they can to keep us moving.... please :)
Up literally all night dealing with computer nonsense, but at least we have a temporary fix!
