Tea Room ReviewThis is one of my favorite and most often visited tea spots. The owners, Chris & Pamela are British through and through down to their wicked wit. This tea room and British Grocer feels like home, no doubt in part because a friend’s grandmother owned the original Irish Shamrock & Thistle grocer before she sold the business and returned home to Ireland. The present owners Chris and husband Gerhard moved the enterprise downstairs, gave it an extreme makeover and added the tea room. Shortly thereafter Pamela (formerly of the popular Pamela’s English Tea Room) signed on as partner and business continued booming.
In addition to afternoon and high tea The Sussex Teapot serves a full English breakfast on the weekend complete with beans on toast, sausages and tomatoes. Pam’s soups are incredible and as I so frequently boast, she makes the best scones in the universe. Their sandwiches and sausage rolls are delectable as well and I have literally dreamt of their chicken cashew sandwich — (I went in the next day and ordered one to eat and one to go!)
